Justin currently lives in Manhattan, he is an actively playing in many projects in the city. A large variety of genres from jazz, rock, musical theater, country, r+b ect….
Justin has performed with many acts. To mention some he’s proud of are national tour with Petula Clark, Jason Robert Brown, Michael Tilson Thomas, Taylor Dayne, Paul Gemignani, Sister Nancy, Matisyahu, Julie Dexter, Congo Ashanti Roy, Ari-up. He has toured with various group across America, Canada, Europe, and Japan. He has recorded several albums for Taylor Dayne, King Django, The Rocksteady 7, Eastern Standard Time. He has recorded many broadway and off broadway cast albums (Kiss me Kate, Gettin The Band Back Together, Desperate Measures). He was featured playing guitar on Apple Tv’s “little voice” He has recorded various 7″ vinyl records under the version city label. One record features an original composition “God of Abraham” that received extensive radio play in Europe and Jamaica.
In the classical world Justin has played with the New World Symphony twice.(conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas) as well as a reading of “Natoma” A lost Victor Herbert opera.
Justin considers himself a versatile player of many styles and many stringed instruments. He is also active pit musician in the theater community. He has been involved with many productions ranging from new musicals to Broadway. Some recent notable productions he had the chair on are Unmasked, Kiss me Kate, Bat out of hell (at the city center), Gettin the Band Back Together, The Ballad of Little Jo, Desperate Measures, Justin is currently subbing on various Broadway shows.
He has recorded two tracks “Dedicated” and “She Don’t Love You” on Taylor Dayne’s album “Satisfied” which reached the front page of the i-tunes store. His original band “The Justin Rothberg group” released their debut album and is now available on i tunes, amazon, and cd baby. Their 2nd album “old business” was just released in the spring of 2015 and is now avail online and at shows. The third album was released in 2021 titled “Hurricane Mouse)
Justin received a Bachelors of Music from The City College of New York in 2005.
Justin is happily endorsed by Taylor guitars, TC electronics, Xotic and Collings Mandolins.
His favorite thing to do musically is play live and record original music with friends.
